That's probably a good candidate topic that you could raise for discussion at one of the upcoming HOA meetings or with the Board of Directors outside of a member meeting.
Upcoming member meetings include the Special HOA Meeting on November 3rd to vote on the proposed 20% increase in annual dues, and the Annual HOA members meeting in early 2010 (date TBA).
The Springs HOA held a couple of meet-your-neighbors get-togethers at our park in the early 2000's, relying on (1) one or more volunteers to plan, coordinate, and orchestrate the gathering, (2) expenditure of HOA "Social" funds and/or donation of BBQ-type food (hamburgers, hot dogs, buns) and plasticware from local grocery stores for a cookout at the park, (3) volunteers to drag their BBQ grills to the park and serve as chefs and servers, (4) contribution of condiments and side dishes for sharing by residents, and (5) volunteers to clean up at the conclusion of the gathering. Non-BBQ neighborhood gatherings were also held a couple of times, usually associated with National Night Out (October 9th this year). |
