We've had U-Verse for over 2 years and are very happy with it. We started with their TV and Internet services, and added their Internet-based telephone service about 18 months ago. All 3 services have been very reliable and are a bit less expensive than we were paying our local cable company. We've not had to return any of our set top boxes, wherease we had to exchange our Time Warner DVR 2 or more times a year because they would begin to freeze or become unresponsive. Since we were one of the "early adopters" of U-Verse, we don't incur the monthly fee for the set-top boxes (we have 1 DVR and other set top boxes - with U-Verse you have to have a DVR or a set top box for each TV). The number of channels on the TV lineup is quite extensive, and the various packages that are offered provide a good choice. The Internet-based phone service has been very reliable and of very good quality - included with the phone service is an Uninterruptable Power Supply that will maintain phone service during brief power outages (assuming the Internet link remains available).
The current Time Warner TV commercial about high definition is accurate - Time Warner doesn't charge for high definition channels (they used to when we were their customer), whereas U-Verse charges $10 a month for high definition service.
You can usually find good discounts when signing up for U-Verse on the Internet. For example, if you order U-Verse TV, Internet, and phone today on the website, you'd receive $400 back.

Thanks for your reply!
We are strongly thinking about ordering the Uverse service at the beginning of May. It sounds like it's been very reliable for you over the past 18 months so we are hoping for the best. |
